Spotlight on: Jessica, The Sewing Rabbit!

We have a special post today from Jessica, the Sewing Rabbit, who recently published her first eBook with Five and Ten Designs! She designed and made some adorable shirts using our Lola dots – see what she has to say about them below!

———————————————————————–

Hello Dear Stella readers, I am so excited to be here today!

When I saw the Lola collection, it was love at first sight. Grey, yellow, and navy is an absolute favorite color palette of mine, mix that with polka dots and it becomes perfection. For the Five and Ten Designs Volume One Pattern eBook release, I just knew that some of these classic fabrics would match perfectly, and seamlessly, into the collection.

These classic polka dots helped turn a flirty and fun shirt into something spectacular.

I think the key when choosing fabrics to wear as apparel, is choosing a fabric that will not take away from the clothing design. You want a fabric that will blend effortlessly into the design, not overwhelm it. Helping your outfit to look store, or boutique, bought.

Then to take your own personal design aesthetics into consideration, picking fabrics that you will actually use in every day life.  I like to look at designs that already have bits and pieces of my own personal style incorporated into it. Whether that be in the color palette, or the design on the fabric (geometric prints, stripes, floral, etc.). But to choose what will blend effortlessly into my wardrobe, while perhaps adding a bit of kick to make it something new and unique.

See how well that Lola fabric fits into the entire collection…
