Dear Stella <3 Valentine's Day

We love Valentine’s Day here at Dear Stella HQ. A whole day dedicated to celebrating love? Sounds like the perfect day to us!

With one week until Valentine’s Day, we’ve been busy crafting up a storm. So we wanted to show you our projects… Stella-style.

First up are these super easy heart sweatshirts!

We used a roll of wax paper to draw our big heart design, cut it out, and then ironed it to the wrong side of our fabric. Before cutting the fabric, we drew a 1/2″ seam allowance around the shape, with a pencil, and then cut it out on that line. Next, we folded down and pressed the seam allowance.┬áLeave the wax paper ironed on – this makes it easier to iron the seam allowance down, all the way around the heart. After you’ve ironed down the seam allowance, you can remove the wax paper.

Use a basting stitch to sew around the edge of the heart with a 1/4″ seam allowance, clipping notches into the folded down seam allowance of the two curves. Press. Center the heart on your sweatshirt (you can also use a sweater, t-shirt, or whatever else you have handy) and stitch it down close to the edge. Remove the basting stitches and you’re all set! The hearts we made are about 10″ high and 10.5″ wide.

Clare’s heart uses Stella-283 Red from Tigerlily.

Jessica’s heart uses Stella-S276 from Spring Street.

Next up is this adorable heart pillow using Stella-M37 Red! Who doesn’t love a little Confetti Sparkle?

This tutorial by Anna of Noodlehead and this tutorial by Ashley of Little Miss Momma are similar to how we made our pillow.

Finally, we made some of these little Valentine’s cards to mail to friends! All we did was cut out little hearts from various pink and red Dear Stella fabric, and then stitched them to cardstock! So easy, and so cute.

From all of us at Dear Stella, YOU guys are our fave! Happy Valentine’s Day!
